Rebecca Topakian started photography in 2009 at the age of 20 to push herself to go outside. She graduated from the National Photography School of Arles in 2015. She plays with the photographic medium and its ambiguity towards artistic and documentary forms, using images as a non-narrative and poetic language, focusing on intimacy and sensuality. Her work has been shown in numerous festivals, biennials and galleries, in France and abroad, including Les Rencontres d'Arles (France), The art centre La Villa Arson (France) or recently in Los Angeles. Her book Infra- published by Classe Moyenne Éditions was shortlisted for the Author Photobook prize of the Rencontres d'Arles. In Jericho, she is the co-founder of an artists and researchers residency called el-Atlal. She was one of the artists in residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts de Paris between 2018-2019
