will host artists in different countries in the following artist residencies: in Germany, HELLERAU – European Centre for the Arts (Dresden), Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin) and Akademie Schloss Solitude (Stuttgart); in France, Camargo Foundation (Cassis), La Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris) and Le Cube (Issy-les-Moulineaux); in the Netherlands, Exchange Programme Dansmakers Amsterdam, Rast Theater (Amsterdam), Jan van Eyck Academie (Maastricht) and Writers Unlimited (the Hague); in Turkey, arthereistanbul (Istanbul), İKSV Residency (Istanbul). Barbara Residency (Ayvalık), Göl Yazıevi (Bursa), Misi Art House (Bursa) and Nesin Art Village (Şirince) will be supplementing the İKSV Residency by inviting artists for a week-long field trips.

The residency programmes will host a total of 26 artists – 13 from Turkey and 13 from France, Germany and the Netherlands. The aim of this residency programme is to create an artistic platform of exchange, networking, cultural engagement and inspiration while the artists are researching and creating an artistic project in the countries they are visiting. The residency will cover all costs related to travel, accommodation, and production.

The application form should be submitted in English only.

ATTENTION: The applicants are sought to have lived and worked the last three years in one of the partner countries. Artists applying from Turkey can only apply for the residency programmes in France, Germany and the Netherlands, while artists applying from France, Germany and the Netherlands can only apply for the residency programmes in Turkey.

The periods of the residencies are as follows;

France


Camargo Foundation (Cassis) – 2 months, 2 artists between 10 September-5 November 2019 and 25 February-21 April 2020
La Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris) – 1,5 months 2 artists between 3 September-13 October 2019 and 17 December 2019-29 January 2020
Le Cube (Issy-les-Moulineaux) - 4 months 1 artist between 15 September 2019-15 January 2020

Germany

HELLERAU – European Centre for the Arts (Dresden) - 5 months 1 artist between September-November 2019 or March-June 2020 (Please specify the interval of your preference in your application.)

The Netherlands

Turkey**

Arthere (Istanbul) - 3 months, 1 artist between September-November 2019
İKSV Residency (Istanbul) - 3 months, 12 artists between September 2019-May 2020

**Barbara Residency (Ayvalık), Göl Yazıevi (Bursa), Misi Art House (Bursa) and Nesin Art Village (Şirince) will be supplementing the İKSV Residency by inviting artists for week-long field trips in the following schedule:

TARGET GROUP
The residencies are open to artists who work on performing arts, visual/digital arts, design and literature. The jury will favour the applications that will put the objectives of intercultural dialogue at their core. Artists who are willing to deepen their knowledge on the context and to get acquainted with the art scene in France, Germany, the Netherlands and Turkey will be more likely to become a laureate of the programme. Dedication and a continuous stay during the residency programme will be required. The jury will be formed by the representatives of the steering committee and the residency organisations. This jury will evaluate and select the applications on the artistic quality and excellence of the applications to select the laureates.
CONDITIONS FOR APPLICATION
  • Only emerging artists (who demonstrate ability to produce artworks) may apply to the programme.
  • Artists applying from Turkey can apply for the residency programmes in France, Germany and the Netherlands, while artists applying from France, Germany and the Netherlands can apply for the residency programmes in Turkey.
  • The residency programmes are open to artists of all nationalities, living in France, Germany, the Netherlands or Turkey. However, artists should prove that they have legal residency permits minimum for 3 consecutive years from France, Germany, the Netherlands or Turkey.
  • The application should be submitted in English.
  • The applicants should be speaking either English or one of the official languages of the country to which he/she applies for residency.
  • Employees of the project partners cannot apply for the open call.
  • The applicants cannot apply for a residency where they have previously been the residents of.
  • The application can only be done by the online form provided.
  • The artists who would like to apply to the residency programmes should upload their CVs, portfolios (max 8mb), a motivation letter and fill the online form .
  • Deadline for applications is 30 April 2019, 23.59 (GMT+3).
SELECTION OF THE ARTISTS
The selection process will be divided in three stages: eligibility phase, pre-selection, and evaluation of the international jury.

  • 1-15 May 2019: Under the supervision of the Steering Committee, an independent committee of 5 people will check the eligibility of the applications.
  • 15 May-17 June 2019: All eligible applications will be evaluated by a committee established by each residency. This committee will submit their pre-selected candidates for the evaluation of the final jury.
  • 24-25 June 2019: The final jury (including representatives from the residencies and the partners of the project) will meet in Istanbul. Each residency will present the favoured applications. On a mutual agreement, the jury will decide the final laureates who will be granted for the residency programmes.
