BURCU YAGCIOGLU

Burcu Yağcıoğlu completed her BA in Painting at Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts and MA in Visual Arts and Communication Design at Sabancı University. In 2008, she moved to London to pursue an MDA degree in Fine Arts at Goldsmiths College. Completing her MFA, she lived and worked in London for another six years before moving back to her hometown in 2016. She currently lives and works in İstanbul. Yağcıoğlu’s practice encompasses drawing, video, collage and installation. Her works are often based on her research, apprehending biological processes as both imaginative and speculative sources. She has been taking part in both national and international projects, and her works are part of several collections. Some of her recent shows include Paper at Pilevneli Project (İstanbul, 2019); Inside, solo project at Galerist (İstanbul, 2018); Part/Whole at Art On (İstanbul, 2018); Bahar as part of the Sharjah Biennial (2017); All the Light We Cannot See at Galerist (İstanbul, 2017); Jikji at Golden Seed (Korea, 2016); Ohne at Mekan 68 (Vienna, 2016); Artists in Their Time, İstanbul Museum of Modern Art (2016); Reunion, Sabancı Museum (İstanbul, 2015); Texture/Collage, Tate Britain (London, 2014).
