VIVIEN TAUCHMANN

Vivien Tauchmann is a designer and researcher, exploring socio-political relations through an embodied and kinaesthetic approach. She graduated from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Schneeberg and completed a master’s in Social Design from Design Academy Eindhoven. Vivien is the founder of the United Negotiation of Otherness, an initiative, that engages critically with the politics of bodies and ‘othering’ through relational design practices. Her on-going project Self-As-Other-Trainings was part of different workshops and amongst others presented at Festival Schule Fundamental (Bauhaus Dessau), INSIST 2 (KU Leuven), the new local (Brussels) and the 4th İstanbul Design Biennal - A School of Schools. With Exercise to Unlearn the Canon she was part of Add to The Cake at Kunstgewerbemuseum Dresden and the Junior Design Research Assembly at HKB, Bern. Vivien was a visiting lecturer for performative and relational design methodologies at Design Academy Eindhoven and Jan van Eyck Academy. Besides, she is active for public outreach at ENS e.V. (Developmental Policy Network Saxony), Alliance against Racism Saxony and Clean Clothes Campaign Germany. Her current research investigates the embodied knowledge of solidarity. Within the scope of BMCT! she took narratives of cultural and social peculiarities between communities in Turkey as a starting point. The artist is currently based in Leipzig.
