HOW TO ENJOY CEYLON TEA - CANAN YUCEL PEKICTEN
AMSTERDAM / 2019-10-15

Dansmakers Amsterdam and Theater RAST join forces to present a performance by an artists in residence from Turkey. And the reason is Be Mobile-Create Together!

Don’t miss Canan Yücel Pekiçten’s solo dance performance “How to Enjoy Ceylon Tea”.

In “How to Enjoy Ceylon Tea”, Canan searches for other ways to enjoy the colonial product, Ceylon Tea. Her work is inspired by Georges Bizet’s Orientalist opera “The Pearl Fishers” (1863) about a community of pearl fishermen from Ceylon. In her dance performance, Canan calls attention to the dominant way of theorization in the West over the consumption of tea: there is even a method for the enjoyment of something.
